Before Pinpoint ever existed, the paths of Ben Grossman, Gilboa Merginger, and Nicholas “Nico” Ruggieri would intersect inside the fast-moving, high-risk world of eCommerce and affiliate marketing.
Ben and Gil had been building together for years. Friends since school and neighbors as adults, they had built and scaled multiple businesses—ranging from insurance to digital products and online retail. Known for their sharp instincts, creative risk-taking, and ability to navigate high-pressure growth, they had seen what it really takes to scale a company from zero to success.
Nico would later join them in the world of eCommerce, and although he wasn’t a founder at that time, his impact would be undeniable. He came in at the ground level and quickly became a key player—instrumental in building out what would eventually become the company’s fraud prevention and chargeback management system, saving the business millions.
The three worked closely with behind-the-scenes operators—one in particular whose talent and insight would prove pivotal not just in that moment, but years later.
When Ben and Gil made the decision to exit the company, the entire team—including Nico—was let go.
There was no soft landing. No next chapter mapped out.
But out of that uncertainty came a spark.
Instead of parting ways, the three decided to build something from scratch—pulling together their collective experience, aligned values, and a belief that the industry was ready for something better.
